Talking a ton!

Aida has started talking a lot these days! She is trying to repeat just about everything we say...some of it even comes out clear as day. The three new words that she says the most are:

"Bark" - which is what she calls all dogs. When we are on a walk she will yell "Bark, bark" if she sees a dog. It is probably because I am always telling Oakley not to bark.

"Hot" - she has figured out everything that comes from the microwave, stove or oven is hot. In fact I leaned on the stovetop early today and she told me "No, Hot!" I am glad she is understanding this. She even associates the word with hot surfaces like the sidewalk or deck when she tried to crawl on them in the heat of the day. She is getting very smart!

"Shoes" - she got her first pair of real shoes from Stride Rite this weekend now that she is trying to walk and she loves them! She tries to out our shoes on us and then asks for her shoes, and when you put them on her she says "out" to go outside (her favorite thing to do). She would have even slept in them tonight if we let her. We took them off of her for her bath, and when we were putting on her pajamas she was grabbing her feet saying "shoes" and was not happy when we didn't put them on. She is taking after her dad already in her love for shoes!

We are really encouraging her to "use her words" instead of saying "ugh" or whining! We just love to her her trying to sound out new words, like "banana". She tries to say it when she sees them on the counter and every time is comes out different. She even realizes it's not right and tries again. It is so darn cute!

She is still trying to walk, but she just doesn't have the confidence to fully do it yet. She loves to try and everywhere we went she wanted to hold one of our hands and walk around. If we let go of her hand she will take a step or two and then stop and sit down. It will come with time!

We had a nice relaxing holiday weekend as a family. We took Aida to get some new fall clothes, spent some time at the pool and played outside a lot! As most of you know football started this weekend, so the rest of our weekend was spent watching some football. The weather around here even cooled down a little for the weekend to make it feel a little more like fall. It was still in the mid-80's during the day, but got down to the mid-50's at night...it felt wonderful!

Ready for the season!
