We started out the week with a camping trip with my side of the family. My mom parks her camper for the entire summer at a wonderful Christian campground not too far from her home. It has so much for families with children to do...a lake to swim in, playgrounds, sand pits, etc. This was Aida's first time camping and she was very excited to sleep in a tent, roast marshmellows, etc. But truthfully, I don't think she really knew what to expect and she had a blast! She even randomly told me the other day "Mom, I really loved camping in MI!". We tend to get caught up in the busyness of life, and we are truly enjoyed 4 days of being unplugged from it all and just enjoying the outdoors and each other. Grandma Lynn sure did enjoy all of the hugs and love she got!
We kept her so busy during the day that she slept amazing in the tent at night. One morning she even slept in till almost 9am, which is usually unheard of!
We did almost all of our cooking on the campfire and other than the smoke, Aida loved it! She often helped daddy "chop" the wood and place it on the fire.
First s'more!
Why make a pie, when you can just eat the filling!
We bought Aida her very own princess fishing pole, so we spent some time fishing! Didn't catch much, but it is just so peaceful to sit by the water...well for as long as a two year old will sit!
It rained one day, but that didn't stop us from doing a little fishing!
Best friends!
The was a giant sand dune on the property and all the older kids would run and jump off of it, and land down in the sand. Aida thought this was a good idea too and boy does this year jump!
Even had daddy put sand over her!
Aida's great grandparents, aunts and uncles even came to the campground to visit! The whole family had such a wonderful time, this is something we would like to try and do a little more often!
